A great morning starts the night before. Each night, spend 10–15 minutes before setting your morning up for success.
Start by doing these simple easy tasks each night before going to bed:
Recap the day in a journal (3–5 minutes): Write down all the things you learned from the day and list out at least three big wins for the day. Such forces you to create the habit of acknowledging your accomplishments.
Review your goals (3–5 minutes): Ideally, you have a list of goals that you are actively trying to accomplish in all areas of your life. Spend a few minutes thinking about each one and imagine as if they are already accomplished.
Plan tomorrow (3–5 minutes): You want to be able to roll out of bed and know exactly what your plan is for the day. Not only will this help you not hit the snooze button on your phone, but it will also give you an overview of your day. You can think ahead to any roadblocks, tough conversations or anything else that might occur.
Make a request to your subconscious: As said, Thomas Edison “Never go to bed without a request from your subconscious mind.” While you are asleep, your brain is working just like it has been all day. Don’t go to bed without giving it something to work on. Ask yourself out loud or write in a journal a question about something you haven’t been able to solve.
Start Your Day with A Win!
It’s so important to start the day with a win. The positive feeling you get by starting the day with a win transfers positive momentum to everything you do for the rest of your day. So, start your day “in control” of your mind by programming yourself to do the things that put you “in control“.
Suddenly then, “you’re in control of the day“. No matter what happens, you are in control, because you are in control of your “mind” and when you control your “mind“, you control your “reactions” and when you control your “reactions” you can find a solution for any problem.
You’ve told your brain: “I am in charge this morning“. So, there won’t be any poisoning of the brain or unconscious habits like picking up the phone or checking emails. You’ve told the brain: that can wait, right now, I am programming my mind for my strongest future by creating my very best self-right now. Believe that you can achieve whatever you want.
Just by doing that, you’ve already had a win. You’re in control and that is a huge win! You might then meditate, releasing any stress in your body, another win.
What to do next
- Maybe then, you’ll spend 5 minutes writing down and really feeling everything and everyone, you are really grateful to have in your life right now, another huge win that brings so much power to your day. We are only 25 minutes into the morning, most people are asleep and you’ve already had 3 wins.
- Maybe then, you’ll pray or read or set an intention for the day. How do you want to feel? How do you want to interact with others? What do you want to accomplish and who do you want to be today? Another win.
- Maybe then, you’ll get a strong workout in. Who knows you might even be able to push yourself for a champion game? Can you go further than you’ve ever been? Faster than you’ve ever been? Lift more than you ever have? Go longer? Do something you’ve never done?
How can you push yourself to pride this morning? That’s how you grow continually pushing to another level; that’s another win, maybe more than one!
Maybe now you go home and have a cold shower. Remind your brain who in charge is today: YOU are.
Your brain says this is crazy; I don’t want to do this. But you’ve done your research and you know this is good for you. You win the mental battle and claim another win.
Now, you’re ready to start the rest of your day, but you are not the same person that started the day. Only one, two hours ago, you became an already different, better, stronger person.
And you’ve started the day how everyone should — winning.
Your mind is strong and you are stronger than yesterday, stronger than when you began this day. Imagine doing this every day, the growth, the expansion; imagine the quality of life you will be living.
This is what winners do. They start the day in control, they start with a win, and they can win the life of their choice.
Ignore any digital devices
It’s most certain that we are all guilty of this. We are tempted to instantly check our phone when we wake up. I am sure that the feeling may be overpowering, but try to resist. Make sure to spend at least ten, fifteen minutes in the morning where you don’t engage with your mobile phone or any other digital device; instead, try to plan out the different tasks of the day.
Mobiles are undeniably a major distraction and potential cause of a short attention span. This is due to the fact that we have a vast amount of options to interact with including gaming apps, messaging apps, social networking, and internet browsing, among others. Even though you may be fighting against a huge overload of information and small digital activities, focus your energy on other activities around the house.
Get the heart pumping early
Exercise and any kind of physical activity are one of the best ways to start your day. Include 30 to 60 minutes of exercise in your morning routine and you will soon realize that exercise helps raise your energy levels, making you more productive for the rest of the day.
Independent of your current fitness levels, you could feel the benefits of exercise through a long walk, cycling, jogging, weight training or active yoga sessions. Why failure is good for success
The sweetest victory is the one that’s most difficult. When we do make missteps, we gloss over them, selectively editing out the miscalculations or mistakes in our life’s résumé. “Failure is not an option,” NASA flight controller Jerry C. Bostick reportedly stated during the mission to bring the damaged Apollo 13 back to Earth, and that phrase has been etched into the collective memory ever since.
To many in our success-driven society, failure isn’t just considered a non-option—it’s deemed a deficiency, says Kathryn Schulz, author of Being Wrong: Adventures in the Margin of Error. “Of all the things we are wrong about, this idea of error might well top the list,” Schulz says. “It is our meta-mistake: We are wrong about what it means to be wrong. Far from being a sign of intellectual inferiority, the capacity to err is crucial to human cognition.”
Failure is life’s greatest teacher
When we take a closer look at the great thinkers throughout history, a willingness to take on failure isn’t a new or extraordinary thought at all. From the likes of Augustine, Darwin, and Freud to the business mavericks and sports legends of today, failure is as powerful a tool as any in reaching great success.

They operate under the belief that if they make no waves, they attract no attention; no one will yell at them for failing because they generally never attempt anything great at which they could possibly fail (or succeed).”
However, in today’s post-recession economy, some employers are no longer shying away from failure—they’re embracing it. According to a recent article in business week, many companies are deliberately seeking out those with track records reflecting both failure and success, believing that those who have been in the trenches, survived battles and come out on the other side have irreplaceable experience and perseverance.
To sum up, no one is going to make your life. It’s only you who is for you. Do your best and have trust in your abilities. When a person tries to push you back in order not to reach prosperity, you must not give up; conversely, you should prove yourself to them; you have to go through your target persistently and whenever you want to give up, just think a bit more, think of those who are ready to laugh at your failure and decide to get as strong as possible.
